After making his commercial radio debut in New Zealand with 'Sweet Side of Love’, Michael McCartney returns to announce the second single ‘Perfect Crime’ off his forthcoming EP. 

Continuing with the self-produced second EP are collaborators Ian Peres (Amy Shark, Ash Grunwald), with shared mix duties from Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), Konstantin Kersting (Mallrat, Tones & I) and Mitch Finglas who mixed 'Too Long' - McCartney's debut single that's enjoyed Double J Rotation since its release in April.

Perfect Crime is a through and through love song (for those who need it right now), but dressed up in a burnt Rock n’ Roll aesthetic.

Self Produced by McCartney and Mixed by Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy, Ali Barter, San Mei), the glue on this track is Ian Peres’s unique brand of musical and aggressive bass playing that has been refined in stadiums the world over. Lyrically, ‘Perfect Crime’ is a playful observation of the mutual act of stealing one another's hearts, while enjoying the welcome surprises as you fall in love. 

Originally penned backstage supporting Human Nature in days gone by on the corporate circuit, McCartney notes “since writing this song, I’ve always had a peace about it, ever since writing the opening melody. I suppose should it need a purpose, it would be to inspire old lovers to stay the course and new lovers to give it a crack’. 

‘Perfect Crime’ is out everywhere July 30th, with the EP available in full on August 27th.
